Went to see Ben Cousins play his 250th game on Sunday and felt totally embarrassed for him. A few weeks ago went to see our boys play their 50th and the team delivered a victory. Here they are, nos 8 & 9, running through their banner. Playing as a team, playing for your jumper wins hands down over an individualistic approach.
Here’s the banner we made for the Willy Juniors U11 football team. The only variable is the “Congratulations, Ethan & Will” section. We simply update this info, apply double sided tape and whack onto the banner ready for the next player who reaches their 50th game milestone. Works a treat. The kids love it and the parents don’t have to be up all night sticking pieces of crepe paper together!

what you reckon Cousins is individualistic
aww … it reads a bit like that but that’s not what I meant. No way but some of our other players are or maybe they are just not up to the mark. Saw it again today against Collingwood. Cousins surrounded by 5 Collingwood players and not a Richmond jumper in sight. No options, no-one presenting. That’s why I’m so embarrassed for him. Jake King tried to spark things up but we just can’t deliver with skill particularly when we try to handball our way out of a situation. Malcolm Blight nailed it when he said … if you’re a poor side then kick long, forget handball, because it’s way too fancy for a side that hasn’t got the skills to make it work for them. love watching Cousins play … a team player for sure and skillful! It’s a young side but I feel like I’ve been saying that for years. Maybe the next five years!
